Meet the Team

As owners and now custodians of this beautiful property, husband-and-wife team, Julian and Leanne moved from England, to live and work at the château with their three daughters in 2019. For over four years they have poured their hearts and souls in to the full and intensive renovation of the interior of the château.

Julian – Owner, Farmer and Front of House

“For the day-to-day running of our small farm, I look after the animals, and the pride I feel in giving them a great life here is truly fulfilling. That said, farming can be a solitary vocation — and at heart, I’m very much a people person.

Meeting new people, hearing their stories, and sharing great food, wine and ale — for me, it doesn’t get much better than that. Since moving to this beautiful part of France, we’ve met some wonderful people, but farm life doesn’t always offer many opportunities to socialise.

Opening the pub and restaurant has given us the best of both worlds. It allows us to welcome friends old and new each week, and to share what we produce on the farm in a way that brings people together.

Seeing guests relaxing with family and friends, enjoying a local ale or one of my cocktails, genuinely makes it all worthwhile. And while my French may not be perfect, I always give it a good go — so I hope you’ll forgive me when we meet!”

Leanne – Owner, Farmer and Head Chef

“I planted my first vegetable garden at the age of 15 and have now been growing organically for nearly thirty years. What I love most about life at the Château Farm is that no two days are ever the same. With over 200 varieties of vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers, there is always something new coming into season and inspiring the kitchen.

Sharing our produce is at the heart of everything we do, and creating a farm-to-table restaurant has been a long-held ambition. My career began in the restaurant industry, where I spent a decade working in busy kitchens and front of house, so I bring both a chef’s and a farmer’s perspective to what we do here.

Our menus change with the seasons, celebrating the very best of our produce, influenced by European and international cuisines, with a touch of English tradition. The food we serve is hearty, nourishing, and above all fresh and full of flavour — real food, made properly, without shortcuts.

We hope you enjoy not only the food, but also the charm of the setting, and come to think of The Little Castle as one of your favourite places to eat and drink.”

Holly – Front of house and Bar Manager

“Growing up at Château de la Coutère, I’ve always been surrounded by food, farming, and people coming together around a table. From helping on the farm to welcoming guests into the château, hospitality has always been part of everyday life.

I work front of house and behind the bar, where I love making people feel relaxed and at home — whether that’s serving drinks, chatting with guests, or helping create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Being part of a small, family-run restaurant means everyone plays a role, and I’m proud to be part of something we’ve built together.

I look forward to welcoming you to our ‘Little Castle’ and helping make your visit a truly enjoyable one.”
